Do you enjoy getting your nails done? As a woman, I always get my nails done a little bit, I think nail art is an important form of self-expression that showcases personal style, creativity and individuality. I prefer Gel X nails to traditional acrylic nails, don't you?

However, we are always in a situation where we need to remove our nails for one reason or another, for example, if we want to change our nail look, there is an event we need to attend but our existing nails don't go with the overall look and so on. You can choose to go to a nail salon to remove your nails, but I prefer to remove my nails myself, and in this article, I'll show you how I safely remove gel x nails at home!

Learn all about gel x nails

Gel X Nails is a new nail beautification technique that achieves fast, long-lasting and natural-looking results through the use of pre-made soft gel nail patches. Unlike traditional acrylic nails and hard gel nails, Gel X Nails use a soft gel material that fits better and reduces damage to natural nails. And with better odor and chemical exposure, Gel X nails are installed on the nail yea faster and more efficient and easier to remove.

Easiest way to remove gel x nails

Removing Gel X nails can be done at home on your own or at a professional nail salon. Here is a step-by-step procedure to safely remove Gel X nails at home:

Tools needed

Nail files (coarse and fine)

Pure acetone

Cotton balls or cotton pads

Aluminum foil

Nail pusher or orange wood stick

Nail clippers

Nail buffer blocks

Moisturizer and nail polish

Removal steps

1. Polish the surface:

We use a 100 to 180 grit file here, first sand off the polish on the surface of the nail until the original color of the nail is revealed, if you want to speed up the sanding you can also use a special 5 in 1 house drill, gently, evenly and slowly file to make sure you don't damage your cuticles or natural nails.

2. Cut the nails short

Since we have polished our nails in the previous step, we can now clearly see our natural nails, use nail clippers to cut the Gel X nails as short as possible to minimize the area that needs to be dissolved, being careful not to cut into our natural nails here. You can use regular nail clippers to cut them short or you can use scissors that are specifically designed to cut Gel X nails short.

3. Acetone Soak

Soak a cotton ball or cotton pad in pure acetone. Here I used to drop some nail polish on the link between my nails and the skin first as acetone dries out the skin. Place the acetone-soaked cotton ball or cotton pad on your nails, making sure to cover your nails, and wrap each nail in aluminum foil (you can cut a whole sheet of foil into small square pieces that fit your fingers ahead of time) to keep the acetone in contact with your nails and prevent evaporation. Allow to sit for 15-20 minutes.

4. Remove Gel X Nails

Remove the foil and cotton ball and gently push off the softened Gel X nails with a nail pusher or orange wood stick. You don't need to push too hard here. If you need to push hard and it doesn't come off well, it means there is still residual gel, so you can soak it again and repeat the above steps.

5. Polishing and buffing

Use a fine nail file and a nail buffer block to gently polish the surface of your nails to make them smooth. Once clean, you can then repair the shape of our natural nails with a coarse nail file.

6. Cleanse and moisturize

Wash your hands and apply moisturizer and nail polish to restore the health of your nails. You can also apply some more nail polish, which will prevent our nails from getting too dry and chapped. Before putting your hands into the UV LED lamp to bake dry the nail polish, use a flat brush dipped in a small amount of alcohol to remove any gel polish that may be present on your skin. After baking, you can wipe them clean with an alcohol cotton pad.

Precautions

Do not forcefully tear: Avoid forcibly tearing or pulling off Gel X nails to prevent damage to natural nails.

Protect the skin: Acetone is irritating to the skin, you can protect the skin by applying petroleum jelly etc. around the nail.

Well ventilated: Acetone has a strong odor and it is recommended to do this in a well-ventilated area.

With these steps, you can safely remove Gel X nails at home and keep your natural nails healthy.
